Kazakhstan, the Country that will host the 2017 Internatonal Expo in Astana is the protagonist of the Natonal Day celebrated yesterday at Expo Milano 2015. The President of the Republic, Nursultan Nazarbajev, took part in the celebratons. “‘Feeding the Planet. Energy for Life’ – he stated during the fag-raising ceremony – is an extremely topical theme. Nobody can afford to underestmate it in any way, because over the next few decades the consumpton of resources on a global level will double and this will require an ever-increasing level of overall commitment from all the Countries on the Planet”.
“Our Country – added President Nazarbajev -, together with Canada and Australia, is one of the leading countries in the world for arable land and with its 250 million hectares, accounts for 4% of the world’s resources. Additonally, Kazakhstan is one of the top ten largest exporters of wheat and 2 million of the 8 million tonnes of wheat supplied by our Country every year are destned for the European Union”.
Italian Minister for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Maurizio Martina, and the Sole Commissioner of the Government for Expo Milano 2015, Giuseppe Sala, were also present. “I am hoping – stated Martina – that the Universal Expositon of Astana 2017, dedicated to the Energy of the Future, can be a departure point for even closer, friendlier relatonships between our Countries, in the awareness that the Expositons are a unique tool for promotng dialogue, fraternity, friendship and collaboraton between world populatons”.
President Nazarbajev confrmed this by saying “We are certain that Expo Milano 2015 will provide an opportunity to illustrate the traditon and culture of our country even more in depth, startng with the variety of our regional cuisine”.
The Natonal Day of Kazakhstan contnued with business meetngs atended by the Kazakhstani Minister for Investment and Development, Asset Issekeshev and the Chairman of ICE, Riccardo Mont. At the end of the event, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbajev, was joined by the Italian Premier Matteo Renzi, who had just visited the Kazakhstan Pavilion, and who delivered a speech. “There are indeed strong business and economic links between our two countries – stated Renzi -but the value that unites us most of all is that of our shared geopolitcal element”.
In the morning, at the Kazakhstan Pavilion, the Astana cycling team - with Fabio Aru and some of his companions – presented a preview of the new, futuristc coach that will accompany the team around the world, scheduled to makeg its debut in July at the Tour de France.
