This season’s inspiration takes us on a journey to Morocco, specifically, Matisse’s Morocco, through the renowned series of paintings he completed during his transformative visit in 1912. Taken by the country’s juxtaposed palette—muted earth tones offset by bold injections of color—Matisse’s art reflects his observations as a traveler and the exotic world he discovered.
As travel does, North Africa liberated Matisse’s creativity. In that same creative spirit, Spring/Summer 2018 represents the adventure, elegance and ease of summer travel.
Morocco’s muted earth tones—shades of sand, dusty brown and blues—serve as the core palette for the collection. Bolder hues of burnt orange, crimson and cobalt blue offset neutral classics and evoke North Africa’s unique and vibrant culture.
New finishes and textures are explored this season. The Church, one of the brand’s signature loafers, is reimagined in two new iterations: one features a bicolored woven leather; the other offers a serrated tongue detail—considered design details perfectly suited for summer.
The Bula espadrille also makes its debut in pebbled and woven leathers. Created with a crêpe sole that is naturally shock absorbent and highly durable, the Bula guarantees custom comfort with an effortlessly elegant form.
The brand’s first sandals are also added to the collection. Truly emblematic of summer, the Arabia and the Comporta name sandals were designed to reflect the breezy, carefree lifestyle the season incites. Thick Italian leather straps—in woven and flat leathers—artfully interlock and wrap the foot, giving its wearer sturdy support and sophisticated style.
