Celebrating its long history with art and culture, Harper’s BAZAAR launched Harper’s BAZAAR ART in 2011 with eight editions – the newest, Harper’s BAZAAR ART en Español , the Mexico & Latin American edition, celebrated its first issue during Art Basel Miami Beach on Thursday, December 4. Laure Heriard Dubreuil of The Webster, Editor in Chief Brenda Da Le Vega, Guest Editor Igor Ramírez García-Peralta and Travesía Cuatro hosted a brunch to welcome the magazine to the Harper’s BAZAAR family.
Four talented young Latin American artists have been commissioned to create exclusive, original and collectible covers for the inaugural edition of Harper’s BAZAAR en Español ART: Carolina Caycedo (Colombia), Jorge Méndez Blake (Mexico), Paulo Nazareth (Brazil), and Ximena Garrdio-Lecca (Peru). The issue focuses on three main topics: young talents, women and Latin America. The objective is to allocate the creation of contemporary art in Latin America to a broader international context and underline the existing dialogue between different art practices and creative industries. Additional artists featured in the issue include photographers Inez & Vinoodh and Sebastian Faena; an exclusive preview of Hedi Slimane’s first ever photography exhibit opening in Paris; Alan and Ximena Faena on their role as art patrons and the future Faena Arts Center in Miami; Mario Testino and his art foundation in Lima; Pablo León de la Barra and the exhibition he recently curated at the Guggenheim Museum; Hans Ulrich Obrist and Simon Castets on their global initiative 89+; which is becoming an extraordinary platform for young talent; and Marco Brambilla’s multimedia art practice. Harper’s BAZAAR en Español ART is published bi-annually.
