BOSS is teaming up with professional baseball player Shohei Ohtani. Within the scope of this partnership, Ohtani will represent the BOSS brand beyond the world of sports in advertising campaigns.
Ohtani currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels in the U.S.A. His success as a two-way baseball player, both pitching and hitting, and as the first-ever player with 10 pitching appearances, 20 home runs and 10 stolen bases in a season in MLB history earned him the accolade of American League Rookie of the Year from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America in 2018. Ohtani is also the first Japanese-born baseball player to hit for the cycle in Major League Baseball.
Ohtani, who is the first player to beat Babe Ruth’s record from 1919 of pitching 15 home runs with 50 innings in a single season, is truly the most outstanding athlete from the past 100 years of Major League Baseball history.
“We’re so excited to announce this partnership with Shohei Ohtani today. Representing the best in his field, he truly embodies the principles that we strive for as a brand and a company: excellence and success. Ohtani will be a great ambassador for BOSS and we can’t wait to work with him”, states Matthew Keighran, HUGO BOSS Managing Director SEAPAC Region.
“I am very delighted as well as excited to partner with BOSS, which always has been a sophisticated and innovative brand for me. I’ve been wearing BOSS and have been a fan of the brand for years, and have always admired its smart designs, simplicity and functionality. As a professional baseball player, I constantly travel all year round. With BOSS I will now feel more confident and comfortable when traveling,” said Shohei Ohtani.
