Footwear brand Catherine de’ Medici 1533 is debuting its long anticipated capsule collection of Women’s Luxury Shoes. The Fall/Winter 2015 collection will be shown in Milan at Livia Gregoretti Showroom until March 30th and in NYC at Jim Villa Showroom until April 1.
Created in Parabiago, Italy, the city of shoes par excellence and synonymous with exquisite Italian craftsmanship and handmade shoes; the designs are charming and whimsical yet undeniably chic. Vibrant and bold colors meet sophistication and elegance in this enigmatic and impeccable collection. Catherine de’ Medici 1533 is a brand that represents someone who has the confidence to stand out anywhere. This is true of the brands namesake as well.
Catherine de’ Medici was the great-granddaughter of Pope Leo X as well as Lorenzo II de’ Medici, the Duke of Urbino. Catherine, with both Italian and French ancestry, became Queen of France in 1547 as the wife of Henry II. She was a figure almost anachronistic for her time, the conveyer of ideas and innovations that positioned her as a forerunner of fashion trends in the Pre-Modern Era and the first woman in history to wear high heels to a formal occasion. Both strong and ambitious, Catherine over-threw the constraints of women’s fashion during an era filled with rigid social norms. Catherine de’ Medici 1533 was established to re-launch the shoe as a luxury accessory and examine the evolution of what was once a symbol of power, wealth, and royalty. This royalty is exuded in the collection’s signature designs, incorporating regal crowns, pearls, and jewels as well as hand-painted pythons. Catherine de’ Medici 1533 is a contemporary reinterpretation of conceptualizing shoes as accessories: rich in precious materials, jewelry, and contrasting bold colors with classic silhouettes making them the perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
